Cities and sustainability: I study cities and systems of cities in the face of current environmental and social challenges (climate change, rare resources, socio-economic inequalities, air pollution...), with different quantitative tools, among which statistical analysis of large empirical datasets, analytical approaches coming from statistical physics and urban economics, and agent-based simulations.

Villes et durabilités : j'étudie les villes et systèmes de villes face aux grands enjeux sociaux et environnementaux actuels (changement climatique, ressources qui se raréfient, inégalités socio-économiques, pollution de l'air...) avec différents outils quantitatifs, parmi lesquels l'analyse statistiques de grandes bases de données empiriques, des approches analytiques venant de la physique statistique et les modèles multi-agents.

SCALE-IT-UP project (Scaling of the Environmental Impacts of Transport and Urban Patterns) led by Prof. Geoffrey Caruso, funded by the luxemburgish Fonds National pour la Recherche (FNR) at the University of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Institute for Socio-Economic Research (LISER) : see https://www.liser.lu/?type=news&id=1662 or https://www.liser.lu/?type=module&id=39&tmp=469. This project studies the environemental impacts (air pollution, urban sprawl, transport,...) of numerous urban areas in order to determine the effect of city size (measured by the total population) and link these impacts to urban forms.

Ce projet étudie les impacts environnementaux (pollution de l'air, étalement, urbain, transport,...) de nombreuses aires urbaines pour déterminer l'effet de la taille (mesurée par la population totale) et relier ces impacts aux formes urbaines.
